Position Summary

The Driver Recruiter is responsible for attracting and qualifying professional truck drivers, with a focus on owner-operators and drivers with intermodal container experience. This role develops and executes market-specific recruiting strategies, manages the applicant pipeline, and ensures a seamless hiring experience from initial contact through onboarding. The Driver Recruiter partners closely with Operations and the Marketing/Drive team to align capacity needs, market competitiveness, and retention goals, while promoting company culture and delivering exceptional candidate experiences.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute recruiting strategies by market to maintain a robust pipeline of qualified drivers.
  • Manage full-cycle recruiting: source, screen, interview, run reports, request documentation, and schedule drug screens.
  • Leverage Tenstreet and other platforms to track, process, and qualify candidates.
  • Utilize social media, advertising, and recruiting events to expand driver leads and applications.
  • Maintain strong market knowledge, including competitor pay structures, trends, and recruiting strategies.
  • Partner with Terminal Managers and Operations to ensure hiring aligns with pay structures, capacity needs, and retention goals.
  • Monitor onboarding trends by market and proactively identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with all FMCSA and DOT regulations during the qualification and hiring process.
  • Deliver a positive candidate experience by providing timely communication, transparency, and professionalism.
  • Promote company culture, support retention initiatives, and serve as a recruiting resource to operations staff.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; college coursework preferred.
  • 2+ years of truck driver recruiting experience required (owner-operator recruiting experience strongly preferred).
  • 6+ months Tenstreet experience required.
  • Prior experience in intermodal/drayage or transportation industry preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and driver qualification requirements.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and recruiting platforms (e.g., Tenstreet).
  • Independent thinker with problem-solving ability and a high level of follow-through.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with candidates, operations staff, and leadership.
  • Professional, motivated, and team-oriented approach.
